im a backpacker in NZ-ive been here for about 5 1/2 months now. In many hostels they have single sex dorms which i agree is a good idea. However at the mo ive had no sleep because of a particulaly loud snorer in my dorm room, and by no sleep i literally mean no sleep. Does any 1 agree that if you are a known snorer they should be certain dorms that you stay in instead of keeping people like myself awake all night?

There is nothing worse than a snorer, its annoying, irritable and makes you think of things that you didn't think you were capable of doing.
that's a good idea you have, make the suggestion.

At the end of the day, having a snorer in a dorm room just goes with the turf. It happens, and there's not much you can do about it. Buying earplugs is a good start. I've spent over 3 years backpacking and you just have to accept the fact that someone will probably snore in a dorm room. Either accept it or seek alternate accommodation. Just remember that it's generally better than listening to people having sex in the dorm room.
