While many would say the tiger which I love as well the real winner here is the T-34/76.2/85. This tank had excellent armor and a great 85mm gun that was just as powerful as the 88mm. The t-34 had the speed of a lighter tank very wide treads so it rarely got stuck and the German tankers treated it with absolute respect if not the tank crews. They were produced in massive numbers in the area of 57,000 tanks in both versions and a further 5,000 more were produced in other countries after the war. The tank is still in use in some countries to this day. It's most recent combat was in the Balkans war in the 1990's. Now that's longeviety. The vehicle had sloped 2.75" armor all around the body. This wasn't sufficient to stop the 88mm but sufficient to allow it to get close enough to fight it. The speed was 35mph with a range of 290 miles tankers in WW2 would kill for such performance. The tank was also very easy to maintain and build something the German tanks could never say. Nor could they ever keep up with the 1,200 tanks per month production rates that were regular in the USSR. The controls were easy to use and required little training. The down fall of this tank in war was it was used poorly by the poorly trained crews of the tanks. This reulted in a high loss rate and in american or German hands would have had a much lower rate. When the Germans 1st met the T-34 they thought seriously of copying the tank but national pride forbid this and the Panther was made instead.

T-34 good firepower, first tank with sloped armor, highly manuevarble, Germans respected it, and 50k + built
It was so good, the Germans built the Panther tank to counter it. The Panther would be the better tank if it didn't break down all the time. The Panther also sports a better gun, 75 L70 which had better penetration then the 88 L53. Also, the Panther was considered a heavy tank while the t-34 was a medium tank

Most historians agree that the T-34 (and its predecessor, the T-31) from Russia were the overall best for the war. The T-34 had weaponry that could kill a German Tiger tank, good armour, fast, and they built over 50,000 of them faster than the Germans could kill them. The production cost was modest, and the Russians reduced the per unit cost as the war progressed.
The Sherman was a great all around tank for the Americans; but not particularly fearsome to the advanced German tanks.

T-34 ranks high on all the attributes mentioned above at least a 70- 75 (out of 100) on each factor and the added advantage of being driven by crazy russians who had the choice of attacking with ferocity or being shot by their own commanders.
Oh yeah people who are answering German Tiger which Mark and which model, Germany produced many versions of the Tiger tank and some of them were inferior to many tanks out there while there was only two or three Marks and models that were produced with consistency throughout the war that could match up with the T-34 which was basically a very simple yet effective design.

I'm going to go with the T-34. Well designed and extremely functional as well as flexible. Perfectly designed for what it needed to do.
Most of the late-war German tanks were over-engineered. Very capable, but finicky. They needed too much maintenance, too many delicate systems, too much training. Pretty impressive machines, yes, the Tiger and the Panther. But wrong for what they needed to do.
The Sherman was also a pretty good tank, partly because it was everything the German tanks weren't. It was relatively easy to maintain and produce. But I'd give the T-34 the edge.

I would think the T-34 is the clear winner. The German Panther or Tiger might come a close second but the Sherman couldn't compete with any of them-it was a lightweight with good speed and mobility but very little else.

That can only be the T-34, esp the production rate. But my heart goes to the Tiger II - King Tiger (Henchel) turret....The fear factor, fire power was unmatched, but it was a case of too little too late for the Germans

1-Fire power and armour, would be the German King Tiger. They were too complicated for mass production.
2-Manoeuvring would be the Sherman and the easiest to build thank to US mass production ability
3-The T 34 certainly scared the hell out of the Germans at the Battle of Kursk.
5-Sherman
