The Old Testament predates Jesus and His ministry. After He ascended into Heaven, many people wrote about His ministry and the works of the Apostles who were the original Christian Church with St. Peter as Pope. There were also false books written about the same events and also some other books that people were not sure about and may have been true books or maybe not. Eventually it became necessary for the Catholic bishops to get together and decide which books should be included in the the New Testament Canon so as to cut down on the confusion as to what was really Christian teaching and what was not. Even at the time the bishops of the Church acknowledged that some of the books excluded could have been legitimate but the rule they used was if in doubt keep it out so they could ensure the authenticity of the Bible. The result was the New Testament as we know it today. It was finally fully agreed upon during the third century AD. But Jesus concluded His ministry with the ultimate sacrifice in 33 AD.

The disciple John wrote John, 1-3 John & Revelation. He was one of the 12 Disciples of Christ and also was at the cross when Jesus hung on the cross. So, these books had to have been written within 100 years of Christ birth in a Manger.

The bible is a combination of books found truly inspired by God. The Torah, the Prophets, the Psalms and Proverbs, the Gospels, the Early Church letters, and Revelation, the vision Jesus gave John when he was older.

Also, in Revelation, Since the foundation the Lamb of God, was the plan for mankinds redemtion.

Rabbi Yeheshuah ben Yosef, known today as Jesus, was allegedly executed in approximately 33 C. E. All of the books of the Old Testament were already in existence; it was called the "Torah" and was the holy book of Judaism. The Gospels are generally regarded as having been written prior to 100 C. E., with many other books and letters attributed to Jesus and his apostles being written over the next several hundred years.
In 325 C. E., the Emperor Constantine convened the Council of Nicea to determine what would be accepted as Christian doctrine. Among other actions, they chose which of the newer, Christian texts would be added to the Torah to create the Christian holy book, the Peshitta. Over several translations, the Peshitta became what is today called the Bible.

The New Testament (or Second Testament as I like to think of it) was written over the next 100 or so years concluding with John's writing of the Book of Revelation.

If you are really interested, research it. Many versions of each of the books in the bible were written by many different men. Not all of them made it into the bible. It's really a very interesting phenomenon.

The scriptures were already there---people referred to the scriptures in the OT. It was made into the Bible of course later on, but the word of God has always been around. And of course when it was first written, as the scriptures were being written, back then, it was in hebrew and greek....and now translated to english for our understanding.
