Muhammad knew a lot about Jesus. He had access to the Gnostic scriptures, which is denied to us. He states that Jesus was married, and his disciples altered the message of Jesus after he died for their own purposes. That seems to be justified by the Gospel of Mary. The reason the Quoran mentions all the others is it came last, and had the advantage of being able to read the others.

Religion is a systematic construct man uses to explain and perform his duty to God. Therefore, God does not follow a religion per se.

Specifically concerning the quran, since Islam came into existence several hundred years after Christianity, it was able to borrow heavily from that faith, as it also does from Judaism.

As for Muhammad being the last prophet, I would disagree. From a Christian perspective, he did not speak the truth concerning God, what He expects from Man, or the nature of Jesus sacrifice. Dispite the Quran's claims to teh contrary, there was a historical figure named Jesus and he was in fact executed under he orders of the Roman governor. We have documentation from both Christian and non-Christian sources concerning this. We also have documentation and evidence of His resurrection. Therefore, the Quran is wrong on this point.

God has no religion. Man Invented religion.
Jesus was quite known among Arabs during Mohammad's time. There were very many Arab Christians...just as there are today. Most of the quotes on Jesus and Christianity from the Quran seem to have come from the Gnostic Gospels and the Essenes.
One must remember that the Gnostic gospels were written at least 200 years after Jesus.

If by "religion of God." you mean the name of the religion then i have an answer. Before the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH), Muslims were anyone who beleived in one God and followed the teachings of the last known Prophet. THerefore the first "Christians" are also considered Muslims.

Man likes to categorize and separate things hence missing the fact that everything is related and interconnected. I feel this separating is the biggest fault of all (uniting = solution) coz everything then remains a piece of the puzzle instead of becoming a piece in the puzzle. My forefathers spoke of prophesies relating to the dawn of colonization yet they were branded heathens by the missionaries. One prophet stated that he had seen a long snake spewing smoke (train) slithering on special ground (tracks) that gave birth to strange looking men who seemed to have no skin (no offense intended). Philosophically speaking, the prophesy was spot-on. Gut instinct tells me that the prophets are one and the same person who spoke of one and the same God. Then again I also believe that an angel does not necessarily have wings, it is the person who helps you through great difficulty.

There is no "religion from God." The Prophets (pbut) were sent to spread God's word and to tell people to follow God's word. I don't believe they actually said "Become a Jew" or "Become a Christian."
