First of all... I am shocked at how rude some of the answers were.
Let me start off by saying depending on your frame, you are not as large as you may see yourself (a large frame could be 170 at your height, and even at a small frame you were borderline underweight). Your age and simply bearing children does have an effect on the body. Also, let's not forget that the vast majority of women in the USA are wearing double digit clothing, but seeing models in the single digits, creating an unrealistic standard. What is important is not what's on the scale (put it in your closet) or on the dress label, but how you see yourself and accept yourself *today*, not comparing yourself to others, or even yourself pre-children.
That being said, besides addressing the emotional issues, yes, there are lots of great workouts to do at home. In fact, get your kids involved and you will all benefit! It doesn't have to be plain aerobics - how about Yoga, or belly dancing? You'll all be in good shape - as as a bonus, your kids will tucker out faster and probably be a bit calmer.
I am a believer that watching the quality of food is far more important than quantity. Just try to eat a large bowl of organic cooked millet, then try at another time to eat one little preservative filled doughnut. Our bodies are hardwired to think we may never see fat or sugar again - food manufacturers take advantage of this, and we wind up with foods where our stomachs say "no more" but our taste buds say "keep going"! Eliminate refined flours, sugars colors and preservatives, and eat organic as much as possible. Again, your whole family can benefit. Do be sure to incorporate healthy fats such as olive, flax and coconut in moderation, they satiate the appetite.
I hope this little bit of information helps. Be the most beautiful, powerful, confident woman you can be today!

lmao! Why did I just notice you said before you get too big! That's so cute, girl 5'8' at 178 pounds isn't bad at all, sounds like you're a damn sexxie fool!! lol. I'm 5'6" and I think I'm sexiest at 160!! But it's prolly cuz your down to the last few stubborn pounds on your body. those of course tkae the most work to get off. If you stick to a diet of six small sensible meals a day (absolutely no sugars!!!) and try cardio at home like jumping rope, or get a stair stepper (mine was 60 bucks at walmart). Or tapes, I have windsor pilates, that's a good one. I also belly dance with tapes by the belly twins veena and neena, that's fun, I bet your kids would wanna join you after a while girl. But create a small home gym. I know it sounds expensive but really it's not. I went to my local Marshalls and got a stability ball ($11.00) a yoga mat ($14.00) a thigh master($7.00) a few sets of weights ($2.99 a pair) and started working out every day. Don't believe the hype hun, us women still need to use weights. Cardio is not enough for the way we want our bodies to look. If you just stick to cardio with no weight trianing you'll be slim but giggly and dealing with cellulite dimples. Always strength train. So far since I started 3 years ago i've lost 75 pounds and am well on my way to being me again. I can relate though i'm at my last few stubborn pounds. Just remember consistency is key so stick to it and you'll be good.
lol. Damn girl you'll be where you wanna be in no time! You got some good answers on here, I can't stop coming back!! lol.

1st stop babying the kids. You are the adult if you say they should be in day care then smack their butts and make them stay in day care..
2, Eat smaller portions of food more times in a day. NO sugar -
3. The types of workout should be cardio. You do not need weights. 40 minutes min... the more you exercise the less weight you will carr..
4- IM HUNGRY.. drink water. MOST of the time when the body THINKS it needs food it's really just thirsty. When you feel the hunger mode coming drink a glass of water wait 10 minutes THEN if you are still hungry.. eat a fruit or veggie..
I lost more than 100 pounds..

One thing you can try if you are always hungry. Get a good juicer and make juice in the morning. Use carrots, kale, cucumber, beets, celery, parley, and apples to sweeten, etc. Keep drinking the juice during the day. It will fill your stomach and satisfy the hunger, which is probably due more to stress than actual hunger. Eat at least 2 oz of salmon 3x's a week.
Make yogurt or buy plain organic. Avoid yogurt and cheese at night. In fact, make lunch your main meal and have soup at night.
Use leafy greens like kale, chard, collard greens, (optional add some quinoa, mung beans for a complete protein) carrots, tomatoes, celery, etc. Drink the broth. Blend the veggies for a thicker consistency. Add Bragg's Amino Acid for seasoning (available at health food stores). During the day make fruit smoothies. Your children will like this also.
Try to use all 6 tastes. You will feel more satisfied after eating.
(sweet, salty, spicy, astringent, bitter, & pungent.)
The key is to get to bed by 9:30 so you are sleeping by 10 pm.
You will see results within 2 weeks.
Buy some Penta water and drink at least 2 bottles a day.
Do some yoga exercises. They are very effective and you don't need to do too much. You just need to be regular in your practice. Set at time, like 2:30. Your children can do them with you. You can also have tea, like chammomile.
Spring will motivate you.

try drinking hot tea in between meals, watch calories as well as portion size. Try playing with your kids. Kicking a soccer ball or bouncing a basketball with them outside, or something. The sunshine is still good for people, if only in limited time amounts. Get some home aerobics tapes, too. Have your kids do them with you, it can't hurt them any either. Maybe find a hobby to keep you from realizing the 'hunger'. I'm not saying you aren't hungry, but it's a game of mind over body. Try low or no calorie snacks, too, like celery or carrots. Just a few ideas of mine, I hope they help.

Eat only when hungry and not more than three times a day unless u r diabetic. Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span.

Ok, I didnt have kids... BUT I am about your height 5'9" and have struggled with my weight. I was always REALLY tiny! around 125-130. And in the past years I wiegh alot more... :-/. BUT I have lost a lot of wieght in the past month. All I did was drink a lot of water... ALOT! Try to keep your meat to all chicken, turkey, and fish. Try not to eat fried food and if you do... use extra virgin olive oil. Eat more carbs in the morning and try to keep carbs completely out of your dinner time. Make sure they are WHOLE GRAINS. Use mustard instead of may on sandwiches. Eat salads and other vegetables as much as possible and just keep your portions minimal. If you feel like you want to eat but you know you arent hungry. Do something to keep your mind busy. Color with your kids or read them a book or watch a movie or something. As far as working out. Just walk 30 mins a day. Even if you are just paseing the house. OH... NO SODA!!! Even diet. Just cut it out completely!! Just do all of this and see how it works for you. Its not THAT hard. I LOVE food and its worked for me. EVERY once in a while Ill give myself a break but not too big of one! Well, good luck!!!

Losing 30 pounds since having the kids is not too shabby! So don't feel TOO badly. I have a couple of ideas.
1. Try workout DVDs. There are so many of them to choose from, and a lot of them are actually fun. "Fun" is the key to making sure you stick to them. Find one that sounds interesting to you, be it yoga, taebo, or even "rockin' with the oldies." Whatever suits your interests. Then make sure you do it every day.
2. Talk to your doctor. He may be able to make some good suggestions for you, and better yet, he'll be able to make sure you find something that is HEALTHY. He may even be able to refer you to a professional, which always beats Yahoo! Answer. Portioning your food is important. Exericise is important. It is good that you are trying to do those things. Being healthy is even more important. Doctors rule!
Good luck! You can do it!

exercising is the best way. I like to walk 3 miles a day. you can start on the school track. every 4 laps is one mile. I also do 50 to 100 hundred crunches a day. you can also get some exercise videos. I take one sometimes 2 days off a week not exercise because my body needs a break.Drink alot of water and watch what you eat but don't starve yourself because that would do alot of damage. my biggest meal is breakfast. at your age your metabolism is pretty fast and that's good.

You should keep going to the gym and hire a nanny or babysitter that can take care of your child, or even your close friend who are willing to play with your child, and you should grab a tasty fruit or prepare a nice salad such as caesar salad or tuna salad to satisfy your hunger instead of eating fatty meal.
Salad taste very delicious if you are hungry you know, if you are too lazy to prepare salad you can just order from pizza hut or any restaurant that has salad. But try not to be lazy cause if you move and be active you will burn calorie.
And if you have a friend that usually jog every morning, go with him or her, cause I know how lazy it is if nobody is jogging with you.
Good luck!
