The personal self can be abolished through deep meditation, contact with God and a certain level of self-denial - certainly you cannot become enlightened whilst living a normal modern life.

Good luck to you, but it will probably take you several lifetimes to dissolve your ego.

Do not try to dissolve ego, or your personal self (they are the same, basically, as there are no divisions to the self.) Ego is part of what makes you you; just don't allow it (ego) to run the show.

Never deny self; you are a blessed being, created of perfect love, including your taking on the mask of ego, or the small self.

Just be what you are, treat your fellow creature as you would be treated.

Love thy neighbor as thyself. there is no law against love. You cannot get away from your ego and personality. Attempting to dissolve either one will only make them stronger. you can, however, bring them into submission by loving others with Godly love.

Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.

God resists the proud, gives grace to the humble.

Two verses to meditate on. Find more verses on pride in a bible promise book.

When a person is born of God, person is made the righteousness of Christ, Covered by His redeeming blood. This is Christ righteousness and not self righteousness.

Self righteousness is trying to do things to make our selves more righteousness. Being in Christ righteousness, we are clothed in His Righteousness.

Find a certified teacher of Zen meditation and study with sincerity and patience. Many years may go by before you begin to let go of that which you cannot have to begin with.
