Yes, as long as they don't lose sight of one of their duties in the military which is to ensure that the Chain of Command supports the right of all personnel to worship or not worship as they see fit. In my military career, I served with many different chaplains and for the most part they were very good about arranging Priests to fly onto the ship and do Catholic mass or Rabbis to do Jewish services. On one ship I was on, we had a Protestant chaplain intervene when a crew member who was a Satan worshipper was being harrassed by some of the Christians. This chaplain also arranged for this crew member to practice his religion with certain limitations; he wasn't allowed to push it on people and he couldn't do things like animal sacrifices on the flight deck.

Military chaplans are supposed to give guidance to the soldiers in accordance with the soldier's beliefs, and most do. There are chaplans of many faiths and there is even one or two that are pagan. As I undertand it, most of the chaplans are given a wide latitude in their services and pray individually according to their own beliefs.
If this is not so, it should be.

Aren't military chaplains supposed to be able to pray for or with soldiers according to the soldier's belief? And as for the chaplain's personal prayer, there is no law against him worshiping however he wants.

Isn't that exactly what a chaplain's job is? A man dying on the battle field doesn't want a generic prayer to a generic deity, he wants someone to pray to a specific god.
Political correctness is really silly sometimes.

When they aren't doing their job, they can pray however they want. We are paying them to minister to all the soldiers who come to them and that does not include praying to Jesus to forgive some American Muslim or Jewish soldier for his beliefs.
On the other hand, it's a position that should be abolished.

Our military chaplain should be able to pray their beliefs. I promise in a fox hole with bullets all around a soldier will not stop to ask any man's permission if he can pray to his God and how.
When your life is on the line, you want God's help - not mans.

I have seen them praying according to their beliefs, but when they are praying with someone of a different faith, their prayers should be more generic than biased.
