My dad and I are going to dance at my wedding reception but the problem is, he can't dance! He insists he can but my mother (who was married to him for 25 years) insists he can't! It's really important that we have the dad/daughter dance but he'll step on my toes, a LOT and I don't want to be hobbling around my reception! :-) Any suggestions on how to politely suggest we practice?

Tell your Dad that YOU have the problem and that you would like to learn with him. He'd have to be a fool not to want to help you out!

You might want to put on some music and try to dance with him. Could be that your Mom is wrong too.

Maybe you and your fiance can both get dance lessons.
One for you and your dad and the other for him and his mom. That way it doesn't seem like you're trying to hurt your dad's feelings. If he has a problem with it, tell him you thought that this could be a good thing for just the two of you to do together, one last time as father and daughter. And you and your new husband will also have some better dancing skills to show off.

just tell him that you'd like to practice so the pictures will look better and the video will be good. if there is no video just tell him that you are really nervous about the wedding and the reception and you're making "finacee" practice and you'd be soooo happy if he could practice with you....just turn on the "daddy please...." he'll melt!

take care.
