I love butterflies and think ti will make a nice accessory to your wedding, Just don't make the mistake of plastering every single wedding item with a butterfly. You don't have to knock your guests over the head with the butterfly theme you know? I would just choose a few select elements to add the butterflies to...maybe a butterfly motif on the place cards and menus, then a few craft butterflies interspersed in the centerpieces and bouquets..much more than that and it's going to look like you went overboard.

My wedding theme was fiesta but I guess you could say it was more of a style than a theme because I am Mexican and we wanted to do the festive colors and food of my culture. A theme can also be a certain color running throughout the wedding such as lavender or blue. I guess the weirdest one I've heard of was Star Trek done aboard a mock spaceship. If it worked for them that's fine, it just seemed odd to me.

It sounds very sweet, but remember to ask the future husband what he thinks as well. You want it to be a day you will always remember and not one that he would rather forget. I am also getting married this july on the fourth and we are doing everything in red white and blue! Congrats and hope it all works out for you!

Pink, white and butterflies may be a little over the top by themselves. Take the poster's suggestions of asking others their opinion but if that is your dream, just make sure to add an element that will make it more of a mature theme such as a little bit of an expansion into a garden theme or a contrasting darker color. Green ivy in Grecian urns (or other planters of choice such as clay pots) with pink roses and white tulle topiaries with ivy intertwined would help it not to be so soft and mushy but still dreamy and romantic. Maybe throw a few fake birds and a few doves on top of tulle draperies and ivy with pink ribbon bows would be nice on whatever candelabras, arches or other furniture you'll be decorating. Throw some clear plastic rope lights into the tool draperies and it will be complete! Definitely use bright green ivy for a more mature effect I think. You'll need a darker complimentary color anyway for the guys suits and vests or ties. In July, you can also find plenty of popular crepe myrtles in the neighborhood landscaping that nobody will miss if you cut them off and they are easily found in common colors of white and pinks (They grow fast and rebloom through the summer). I love purple so I would throw that in also! It would look great on the guys vests and compliment the pink/white elsewhere. For the ladies? Can't have white competing with you. If you like a floral print with all your colors in it that might work but may be too busy. A nice medium to light (not washed out baby pink) rose color would do and pink and white bouquets would show up nicely tied with purple ribbons and a bit of green ivy tucked in. Fake butterflies would not show up in any of the bouquets without the green or other darker contrasting color. If you want a stamp with green ivy on it that rolls continuous borders, I'll sell it to you reasonable. I just remembered I had it! It would go great on the placards you intend to make. I think you need to put some glass globes with floating pink and white floating candles or white (or silver) glassy floral pebbles in the bottom with pink and white balloons or make topiaries for the reception tables. You can intersperse your fake butterflies and ivy in the table decorations.
For pew decor, white tulle (netting) or satin bows with a sprig of ivy, pink flowers, and your butterflies. White battenburg lace would give it class and maturity as well. Take some craft doilies and wrap them into a cone shape and tuck the flowers inside. Gold is a nice complimentary color for pink/white theme also. Great for ties, cumberbands, floral accents, etc. It is more contemporary and the other more victorian. So, I would use black and purple or black and gold or black and ivy green for the guys and gold florals or beadwork and ivy green accents in the floral arrangements throughout. A tiny touch of yellow (in lieu of gold if going with battenburg lace) would be nice also in the arrangements. Butterflies do prefer colorful gardens!
Best of luck to you and please tell me it's a heterosexual wedding I've helped plan here!!

I think it sounds delightful, but you have to keep in mind to include some of your husbands taste. Does he agree with the butterfly theme? That is the only thing I think he may be quizical about.

I think that's really sweet but defintiely girly. I know the wedding is supposed to be the bride's day but remember...HE'S getting married too so he should have a say in the wedding theme/colors etc. if he wants to.
