Well, a lot of dogs have natural behaviors that can be trained into cute little tricks. Like a dog who rolls around on the floor can easily be taught to roll over. Or a very smart dog can be taught their right from their left. My Lhasa liked to jump around and stand up so I taught him "lets dance" and I also taught him "kiss" and "be a kitty" (my cats always smack each other with their paws and he started copying them).

Some ideas:
Dance or Sit pretty (sitting back with their front paws off the floor, or standing up)
Kisses
Roll over
Play dead (if the dog often rolls on his back)
Left Paw/Right Paw
Speak/Hush
Eyes on me (good one just to get the dogs attention, they look at you)
Hugs--- I'm working on this one (this one is difficult because you need to get the dog to jump into your arms through a long process)
Bow (you can teach this one using the dog's natural play bow)
You can teach a dog to put away their toys
You can teach a dog to recognize different toys (balls, rope toys, stuffed toys)
You could also teach him to jump things and go through hoops if you wanted to

1: teach your dog how to speak
2: teach your dog how to Fetch the Paper
3: how to use toilet
4: how to use telephone (point number 1 will help you)
5: teach your dog what to do when it emergency.

You can teach him to bow, to recognise and fetch certain toys like "bone", "ball". I taught my dog to kiss - point to your cheek say "kiss" and they give you little lick! Heel - slap the side of your thigh and teach your dog to sit next to yor leg. I have a working cocker spaniel - look identical to a springer but slightly smaller - they are very intelligent dogs and love to work.

I taught my son's dog's and my cat as well to high five!
My cat saw how much loving I was giving the dogs for getting the trick right, I looked over at her and she lifted her paw for a high five! So cute!

shake hands, roll over, jump through a hoop, play ball by rolling or throwing the ball & let him catch it. My dog was a good ball player.
Play hide & seek with him, get bubbles & you blow them & let him chase them., You throw & let him catch a flying saucer. There are lots of ways to teach & train a dog and keep him entertained.

high five and wave are two really easy to train tricks that people always get a kick out of. plus if he already knows paw you are halfway there. get some treats, ask him to sit and ask him to do paw a few times. each time he gives you the paw say "good!" or "yes!" and give him a treat immediately. using a word like that marks the behavior you want, so when teaching a new trick you can catch the motion you are trying to teach. to get high five, put your hand out like you are asking for paw, and when he reaches up put your hand against his paw like a high five say "Yes!" and give him a treat. do that a few times, and once he seems to get the motion, add the command: put the hand up and say "high five!" when he does it, say "yes!" and treat him again. most dogs get it very quickly! to move on the wave, act like you are asking for a high five, but then move your hand up and away. once he gets the motion add the command and wave your hand at him. repeat, gradually moving your hand farther away until you can stand up and say wave. i've taught a friends dog high five in 10 minutes! it's easy and funny once they get it. good luck!

You can teach him or her to fetch, catch a frisbee. I had taught mine to carry in the mail from the mailbox. He will also deliver something to a person when called.
