He's had it for a couple of weeks now, he's 7wks. And it's just around his moth. Little red bumps, and some of them look white in the middle. It's on his chin above his upper lip, and cheeks next to his mouth. Could it be from breastfeeding and rubbing on my skin with milk irritating it? Some days look better than others....why? Any advice will help. Thanks!!!!!

Completley normal. Infant acne is just a sign of the last of the mother's hormones leaving the baby's body. Sometimes his acne can, indeed, get a little irritated from the milk if he drools, it'll just get a little redder. Just keep the area as dry as possible by dabbing it with a soft dry washcloth after feeding and burping. It will go away in a few days to a few weeks.

My daughter had terrible baby acne all over her face and neck for several weeks. It developed when she was about 1-2 weeks old. I called the doctor and they told me it was from our skin to skin contact and the hormones in my skin, since I was breastfeeding. The only advice he gave was to wash/wipe her face after each feeding with a warm wash cloth. It seemed to help a little bit. After about 2 weeks her acne was gone completely. It just seemed to take some time for her skin to get used to my skin and hormone levels.

While it took little less than two months for me to really see a difference, my acne, blackheads and whole lot of other skin problems I had such as eczema had completely cleared! It was totally amazing...

Get Rid Of Acne Permanently?

Baby acne is quite common in newborns. They don't all look like the perfect Gerber baby on the jar. It is usually harmonal, and will go away quickly. It may , however, be thrush or yeast, and should be checked immediately by your pediatrician. You can get it on contact, and it makes breast feeding very painful. Have you checked the inside of his mouth for lesions or blisters? The superficial acne does go way when things settle down, but have this checked for your own peace of mind and your baby's comfort.

It is completely normal. Babies get it all the time. My son had it and then at about 3 months it just magically went away. Just don't try to pop them, you could scar his precious little face.

Mine got that with formula as well. It was just the milk that made them appear. Just don't bother them and wash his little face after feedings.
