The only change is that she has moved to a new home where she's allowed to be more outdoorsy and she doesn't get any people food anymore.

In her other home, she was in a climate-controlled environment. When allowed to be out of doors more, she needed more 'clothes' so she has put on her winter coat...

Also, the extra fatty acids in people food may have made a difference in the sleekness, but she is most likely just fine, if she is getting a quality food, and will become sleek as the weather gets warmer.

Was your dog a puppy before moving? Age may account for change in texture. Also, wintry weather causes coats to thicken in long haired dachshunds.
You mentioned a change to dog food, I am guessing, since you can't feed people food anymore.
If you are feeding dog food, what you are feeding may not be enough to provide that shiny healthier coat. Your dog may need a better dog food and/or supplements in addition to his food.
There is a good supplement available via Vet called 3V Caps- Skin Formulation, which has Omega 3, Vit A, D and E in it. In addition you can either soft scramble or feed a raw egg a few times a week.

How old is she? A dog's coat will change with age unfortunately. I have a smooth coat doxie and I feed her nutro max dog food. The one with tons of veggies and stuff! Her coat is beautiful since she has been eating that. Her body might just be getting used to not having people food too. She will get over that.

i would think it can either be some nutrients in the people food that kept the coat shiny.or it could be something outside. like plants can do that to a dogs' coat.also the new owner could be using a new wash for the dog.

The dog coul;d possibly be lacking fatty acids. It is easy for a dog to get plenty when snacking on people food, but they are not very well propertioned in dog food. try a supplement

I am guessing that she is being brushed. Take her to the groomer. See what the groomer says.If necessary take her to the Vet. Being on pet food and not allowed people food should help improve her coat.
