I have celiac disease and cannot have gluten. I have recipes that call for rice flour and was wondering if I can use soy flour in place of the rice? And would I use the same amount?

For a celiac remember BROW
Barley
Rye
Oat
Wheat

Any other flours, for the most part, don't contain gluten or the proteins that make gluten. Soy flour can be substituted but it is more dense and high in fat.

rice flour does not have gluten.

I would think that b/c soy flour is much higher in protein, it would not be an equal sub for rice flour. Maybe cornstarch is a more equal stub for rice flour, if the only reason you are subbing it is b/c you are out of rice flour. You can eat rice flour.

Just avoid prodcuts containg wheat, oats, rye, or barley.

If you know that you can have soy flour, then yes. Try the same am ount, it does not allow thickening of the product. It contains more protein.
