If you have Windows XP, it is a simple matter of copying and pasting the files from the hard drive onto the CD drive. Then click "Write these files to CD".

If a cd burner came with the machine when you bought it, then you should already have software that lets you burn CDs. If you bought the drive separately it should have also come with software, but you would have had to load it to be able to burn anything. If you cannot find any kind of burning software you could go to the web and download some...there are lots of options and even a few are free.

HP should have provided you with some kind of burning program, go to START then ALL PROGRAMS and go to HP folders and search for some type of disc creation program. If worse comes to worse you can use Windows built in burning program for data cd's and Media Player 10 and 11's burning for Music cd's.

No. Windows can natively burn data to a CD, and Windows Media Player can natively burn music CDs. Though neither works particularly as good as a proprietary program such as Nero would.

Hi,
You can do it using the Windows Installed Software but the BEST thing to do is to Download a Copy of Nero 7 from a torrent site (First Station.com is good for Software) then use Nero for all your C.D and DVD Burning. Nero will do all your Backup's as well. Hope this helps.

If your computer already has the software installed on it, you should not have to buy anything. Most times you can open Windows Media Player and go to the "Burn" tab. I just drag whatever songs I want to burn onto their list and let it rip. You probably should look in your control panel and see if the software is on your computer.
