Did you believe parenting would be as hard before you had your children?

I had no idea!!! When reality hit having given birth (horrifically) on my 19th birthday I cried A LOT. I'm lucky I started my family with the right man, we've been together for 10yrs now and have also had twins. I was definitely too young but we gave our daughter 100% love and hoped for the best. All the people who tutted and said "babies having babies" really upset me but now I see they were so right.

Comming from my perspective- i was placed in foster care when i was 14- i was all too aware of how children are ALOT of hard work, and that not everyone can cope well enough with them.

I always imagined that when i had children of my own, that i would be different, and society seemed to think that because i was a 'troublesome' child that i would never be able to cope.

Well....i am now a single mum of 2 boys, and also a full time mature student, and yes it has had moment where it is really hard, but what i think is that...kids are a blessing, and so is being able to look after them!

I did yes as I had had to become another parent from a young age as my dad was very ill so I stepped in with mum and did all the parenting jobs from being 12/13 so I feel I was prepared for the work but I found my emotions/hormones after pregnancy much harder to deal with than the babies

Oh my god no.
I have five. All ages; oldest is 30; youngest is 14.
I think on my feet a lot; trying not to be over controlling, yet not letting them think I'm a pushover. I try to reason with them, respecting their opinions as individuals;however, I have the final word. I rarely come down heavy on them; they have a lot of freedom, but they know that when I do, I mean it. The lady is not for turning.
It' the toughest job in the world. I'm always learning, and I'm never sure if I've got it right.

No, I didn't. My cousin moved in with my husband and I two years ago. I didn't realize at first that I was going to be a parent or guardian. I started becoming his friend instead of his parent but shortly realized that I had to be a parent. I took charge and now I'm in control of both him and my son. When I did have my son I already knew what it took to become a successful parent so I guess when I had my own children I knew it was a tough but rewarding road ahead.

I never thought it would be so hard. Having been young with the birth of my first, I didn't know what to expect. It's a tough job, but the most fulfulling job, being a mommy!
I wouldn't trade it for the world.
So satisfying and heartwarming.

I wasnt a bad kid so my parents didnt have a hard with me. Never really thought it was going to be tough. I have 3 kids now. OMG it gets hard some days...but the love they give u makes it all worth it!!

I thought some things would be easier some more difficult! Assumed I would be good at managing my 2 year old's behaviour - wrong! Thought young babies would be much more difficult but all you need is a routine. Who knows about the future, mine are only 6wks old and 2 yrs.

Nope - not the perfect get it right mum I thought I'd be but the boys seem to be growing up reasonably well balanced! Hardest job in the world but glad I signed up for it! Wouldn't change it for the world.

I always knew there would be obstacles , and although being a mum can be a thankless task at times it is ever so rewarding , i could never imagine life without my cherubs :)
