I have just purchased a pair of Ugg boots from Australia. There was nothing on the website about hidden charges. However I received a letter from Parcel Force saying that I had to pay £42 import tax to have the parcel!!! £42 how can that be right when I only paid £72 for the boots ??? How can they charge such a large amount in tax compared to the low value of the goods ?? Has anyone else been caught out like this? Is there anything I can do as that seems like a highly excessive amount of tax for one pair of boots. xxxx

Hello I know , this question has been asked 4 year ago but I want to give my opinion on it, I think you need to contact with some local dealer or business company who deal with japan car import, I am sure they will give you clear idea about that...........If you do not find proper dealer then have a look here for it

You have to pay import duty on the boots.
Then add the shipping costs to the duty, and add VAT (at 17.5%) to the lot.

If in doubt, check with your local Customs office.
