what is the diffrence between a regular crucifix and a st. benedict crucifix??

they both look diffrent in the middle!! it has a design! what kind of design??!! what is the history of it??! is there a story or something that st. benedict did to get that name for the cross??!! thanks!! and please dont remove the questoin!!
