If you read carefully it said Chrysler in its entirety. Mercedes does not want anything to do with the whole mess! It has significantly hurt the Mercedes brand to be tied in with Chrysler.

As of 2007 I don't want anything to do with jeep anyway!
If GM owned it maybe they would drop that lame *** mini-van 3.7 L motor and install a Vortec 4.3L V6 in its place!
GM has better motors! Hey..here's a thought... Jeep could get its I-6 back too. GM makes a bad *** straight 6. It produces 291 hp & torque to 277 ft·lbf. The Atlas LL8 was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2002.
Not to mention their straight 5. It produces 242 hp & 242 ft·lbf.
So I guess I'd have to say.....COOL I HOPE IT HAPPENS!

GM buying Chrysler doesn't necessarily mean that the Jeep brand would be included in the transaction. The terms of the sale would indicate what would be included or excluded in the transaction. Larger companies often sell off business units or product lines if they are not in line with their core business or if they are not profitable.

If that happened, there could always be a stipulation that Jeep not be sold.
They don't have to sell everything.
