He's basically twirling the thing like a baton.
He lets the cane "walk" through his fingers like a ladder.

i can do it w/ my wrist trick(looks the same)
1.ball up your hand around it
2.keep your arm steady and move only your hand in a figure 8 movement
3.presto!! you're a cane twirling champ
