I have problem staying awake for the first class in the morning, between 8:30AM - 10:00AM. After that, I feel absolutely awake to do anything. I always feel sleepy in the morning before 10:00 AM.

I have a very healthy lifestyle. I workout every weekday for 2 hours, aerobatics and weight; I eat lots of fruit and vegetable and some meat daily. Normally, I go to bed around 11:00 PM and have to wake up around 7:00 AM. That's about 8 hours of sleep everyday, since I'm in my early 20s, that should be enough. Sometimes I try to sleep even earlier yet still feel sleepy in the morning. What exactly is wrong? Or is this normal? My friends told me that I'm the night kind of people who could stay up late at night easily yet just can't wake up early no matter how long I have slept.

Any ideas? I want to wake up early and not feel sleepy yet I don't see anything wrong with my current lifestyle. How could I improve it?

See a Dr. (preferrably Endocrinologist) and have them check your cortisol levels. A symptom of low cortisol is that you are very tired earlier in the morning, usually before 10! If you are low on cortisol (either adrenals not making enough or pituitary not stimulating adrenals) 8 hrs sleep would not be enough and mornings are very difficult. Your normal everyday stress may be too much for your adrenals to catch up. Good luck.

I have no trouble getting up early. Sometimes I wake up 5:00 and am ready to go anywhere. I think it's because that's what I'm use to. I'm an early riser, but at night I can't do too much at all. It's sort of like having your days and nights mixed up. I wish I could sleep longer and be up later at night, so I can watch television. I guess the only things we can do is I should make myself go back to bed and you should make yourself always get up before 10:00. This way our bodies will get use to it.

Sure you've heard this already but I had the same problem. Nothing worse than feeling tired in the morning. I now watch T.V. in my room from 8:00 on and usually fall asleep around 9-9"30...It may help..It seems your brain is alerting you that you need more rest..Especially if your mind runs constantly as mine does. Obviously your body is fine but your brain is telling you to sleep more. There is absolutly nothing wrong with getting 9-10 hours of GOOD SLEEP.

Aromatherapy? Lemon oil perks you up, try smelling a lemon or eat it, even better. Wow! Can't sleep through that! There's always coffee. I also read that an apple is better able to wake us up than coffee, though I haven't read a scientific study on apples as opposed to caffeine.... It's worth a shot though! Try an apple a day to keep the sandman away. ;)
