That all depends on what type of employment or just to retire
To retire Victoria, British Columbia
Kelowna, Christina Lake, towns in the interior of B.C
or Sunshine Coast/ Gibson/Powell River
The East has its own charms and least expensive places to live
The larger cities Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary all
offer employment but are expensive to buy/rent homes
No one should forget Saskatchewan, Manitoba
Houses are cheaper, employment is available and offers
great places to bring up family without going broker and broker
they have beautiful smaller towns and cities but the down fall is the two to three month cold snaps and heat in the summer
It varies so much and so many great choices

Toronto is the economic engine of Canada. The greater metropolitan area has a population of 5 million people. The vast majority of immigrants to Canada settle in Toronto, and there are numerous parts of the city which resemble microcosms of other cities in the world - little Italy, Chinatown, the Greek village, complete with restaurants and cultural heritage that is celebrated within the city. Toronto is certainly of the most multicultural cities in the world, and very accepting of all cultures.
If not Toronto, you may opt for the beauty and more pleasant climes of Vancouver on the west coast. The third largest city in Canada, Vancouver is a place where you can golf in the morning, and drive to the mountains for skiing in the afternoon. Those who live in Vancouver tend to love it, and would never consider a move to the Big Smoke - Toronto.

Of the large cities in Canada Montréal has the lowest cost of living (which is paradoxical because Québec has the highest taxes) and is Canada's most fun, exciting cosmopolitan city. There are no slums to speak of; even the poorer neighborhoods are clean and well kept up. One has to put up with some real stupid politics, however.

i live in truro nova scotia canada
ive been to a lot of cities in can.
the least expenive is halifax nova scotia
its on the ocean and the city is small n the people in nova scotia are friendly.its a clean city .there are a few slums but not real bad. there are a lot of jobs open also.i live 60 miles away.do most of my main shopping there.lots to do there also.

being from BC i would say the lower mainland. however i now live in alberta and jobs are a plenty. there seems to be a huge shortage of workers for every industry and we have only one tax here.

toronto is a given .. but u might want to look at alberta( calgary, edmonton etc) . they are having a economic boom at the moment... especially in the oil industry.

Hi depending of his work experience I recommend to look in workopolis or monster.ca that will give him where is his trade or experience require.
Alberta is booming right now but he needs experience in oil and gas
