Delicious Low-Fat Spinach Dip
1 pint low-fat sour cream
1 cup light mayonnaise
1/2 cup dry leek soup mix
1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well drained
1/2 cup chopped green onions
1 teaspoon dried dill
1 teaspoon dried Italian salad dressing mix
Combine all ingredients.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Cut insides out of round bread loaf.
Spoon dip into bread bowl.
Serve with slices of French baguette
spinach dip
1 package frozen spinach, thawed and drained
1 cup sour cream
1 cup mayonnaise (not miracle whip)
1 package Knorr vegetable soup mix (or onion soup mix)
1 can water chestnuts, drained and chopped (optional)
1/2 chopped onion
Thaw and drain the spinach.
Squeeze the spinach with paper towels to remove excess water.
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
Let set in the fridge for a couple hours before serving.
I like to use a round loaf of bread for serving it in.
Scoop out the loaf and place dip inside.
I use what I scoop out for making croutons.
Serve with fresh veggetables.

Water chestnuts are not fattening, I have 3 recommendations, light sour cream, light cream cheese and light mayonaisse.
I use frozen chopped spinach, just let in thaw or rinse it in a colander, also watch the salt, these ingredient tend to be more bland than regular, try something like Mrs Dash a non salt based flavour enhancer, it will also keep longer, not like the one made with the other stuff.
I am a former chef and had to make light and low calorie alternative for things when catering or as menu items, I worked through the quote" California Cuisine" craze.

I don't put mayo in at all. Just light sour cream, the spinach, and a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch mix. Sometimes chopped water chestnuts.

Use non-fat mayo and non-fat sour cream..
This is the recipe I use... very easy to remember becuase of all of the 2's. :-) Also make the night before and refrigerate covered so all of the flavors can meld.
2 cup mayo
2 cup sour cream
2 packs Knorrs Leek Soup Mix
2 packs of chopped spinach, defrosted and drained
2 cloves of minced garlic
1/4 cup of chopped water chestnuts
season to taste.

You can use fat free sour cream/or non fat mayo/ or miracle whip. Miracle whip has less fat that mayo.
