The reason i am asking is because my two Jack Russles Ran off Feb. 15 and still are not back. they have never killed an animal and have always depended on us for their food, water, shelter and ect. is it possible for them to get into a "servival mode"?

How in the world did they run off?

Yes it is possible. I once had two cats. They were inside only animals, but escaped during a move. We were in the country far from other houses. I saw one of the cats about a year later. She came to me and took some food, but was obviously wild and would not let me touch her. She ran off and I've never seen her since. I hope this is not the case with your dogs. I hope they come home safe.

As long as the dogs have water - they can actually go without food for 2 - 3 weeks.

They probably are munching on trash or picking up scraps from people. Dogs are very resourceful. They will eat leaves and berrries and such when no other food is available. Dogs can go 2 weeks or more without food without gettting ill. They will find water where ever they can get it and shelter is even easier.

Dogs will find food, hopefully they were taken in by someone or turned into your local animal shelter. Make sure you put posters up and contact all the shelters in your immediate area incase they were picked up or taken in. I hope you find your dogs

As long as they have water I would say about a week. If they are hungry enough they will find food. Dogs love garbage so unless your dogs are very picky, I wouldn't worry about them starving.
