I got a few yoga DVDs and have decided to take up yoga at home. I have a few questions...

1. What apparel is best to practice yoga in?
2. Can I use a towel instead of a yoga mat?
3. What other equipment is needed?
4. Anything else?

1. Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. T-shirts or tank tops with shorts or leggings are suggested. Baggy t-shirts or long baggy pants are not recommended. Bare feet are essential are on the yoga mat.

2. You may use a towel if your floor is carpeted. Otherwise, it is best to use a yoga mat to avoid any slippage on the floor. It doesn't have to be expensive, you can buy cheap ones at any sports store.

3. Depending on the yoga DVD you have, some types of yoga require special props like a block, strap, block, blanket or towel. But sometimes all you need is your mat. Watch the DVD once before attemping to follow the poses so that you know what to expect and be prepared.

4. Yoga should be practiced on an empty stomach. Allow at least two hours after a meal. Otherwise you'll feel nauseous doing the poses with a full stomach. Food can be taken 30 minutes after class.

1. It doesn't matter. Whatever you feel comfortable in, but no jeans. Maybe sweatpants, tshirts, tank tops, jogging pants.

2. NO! Yoga mats are really inexpensive 9.99-19.99 at Target, Wal-mart etc. You need the support of the mat, it has cushion.

3. Open mind! We used aroma-theraphy candles and relaxing music for meditation when I took my yoga class.

4. I would probably stretch a little to make sure I didn't pull a muscle. It is very relaxing and a great way to relieve stress. Enjoy!

Hi! You really just need some loose cloths and then a mat or a towel.

Towels and mats are really required. They help make sure you do not slip. It really pretty important not to move out of a pose because you were slipping or something!

Good luck.
