What Mickey said. ANYTHING with red dye 40 or yellow dye. caffine and the look at the sugar content in everything you feed him. He'll thank you for it because he's as miserable as you are.

My daughter has all ways been on the go. What I have found that works miracles is to have her do thing around the house. Have him help clean give him little simple jobs that he can do this will not only help to keep him out of you hair and your mom's but it will give him a since of purpose as well as building good habits. My daughter loves to help me cook, sweep the floor, do the dishes, and take out the trash. We also live on a farm and she will help with chores and picking up trash in our yard. We have since gotten her a little box and when she does stuff for s we give her a quarter or some thing. Then when she has saved up enough money we take her shopping. And wouldn't you know she didn't want to buy candy or toys but wanted to buy clothes. Try this method.
All so I was ADHD as a child and my parents never had me on any meds. They simply had me do things out side like the chores or would give me ideas of things to do like build a tree house or clup house. Construtive things to do is the best thing for hyperness. Hyperness can also be a sine of boredom and a lack of mental stimuli.

Definitely a healthy diet, one cup (8oz) juice per day, the rest should be water or milk. No junk food, and start setting the same bed time every night. NO NAPS! My 4 year old is always on the go, she's asleep every night by 9. If none of our suggestion help, would be good idea to consult with doctor, he could be ADHD and need some medical help. GOOD LUCK.

To those who say cut out sugar and other stimulants,I'd like to add: make sure he gets a lot of physical activity every day -- let him wear himself out.
Dunno where you live, but if there's a park or playground nearby, take him there a lot, and let him run and move around.
There's also dancing in the living-room, which would be fun for you and your mom, as well.

I find with my hyper 3 &1/2 yo the trick is getting him to sit still long enough to go to sleep.
Doesn’t help now, but it is a faze that will pass as he gets older.

My 3yr old is like this too. I give her nothing with sugar and healthy snacks to help her. She is so busy that I have to give her things to stimulate her mind so she isnt bored and gets into trouble. Try some character dominoes, train set, washable paint set, and alphabet books. This seems to keep them busy.
