I am renting a truck to load all of my belongings and don't have a second person to drive my car. Costs of having a mover transport the car are prohibitive. How do I move it myself?

How good is your car? If you are planning a cross country jaunt, make sure your car is up to the challenge. Get it tuned up by a reputable mechanic, replace the tires and head out. If you feel it's not going to make it , it might be best to sell it and rent a U haul. While that may seem harsh, a car that gets you around town just might not be up for the trip cross country. Be sure that you also plan your route. Taking time to check alternate routes can save you major frustration. Try to stay away from major cities. Otherwise you might wind up someplace you really don't want to be.

Some rental companies can rent a tow bar that you can tow the car behind the truck.

rent a larger truck to put the car in;
or ;tow it behind you;
or;pay a friend to drive it and pay for thier one-way ticket back;
or;
place an ad ...may be someone needs a way to get where you're going & will do it for free;
or;sell your car & get a new one when you get there.
Good Luck :)

You should rent a truck that also allows you to tow your car behind.

Tow it with the moving truck, or sell it and buy another one when you get there.
