A teacher told the month of her birthday to Peter, and the day of her birthday to John. Then, the teacher showed a set of dates, and asked Peter and John which one was her birthday:

4 Mar, 5 Mar, 8 Mar
4 Jun, 7 Jun
1 Sep, 5 Sep
1 Dec, 2 Dec, 8 Dec

Peter said, "If I don't know the answer, John doesn't know, too."
John said, "At first I really didn't know, but now I know."
Peter said, "I know, too."

What is the teacher's birthday?

Peter said, "If I don't know the answer, John doesn't know, too."
(1) That means it's not Jun nor Dec because if it were Jun nor Dec, John might actually know the bday if the bday happens to be 7 Jun or 2 Dec

John said, "At first I really didn't know, but now I know."
(2) Now John knows it's not Jun nor Dec. Also, now he knows the actual bday. That means it can't be 5 Mar or 5 Sep

Peter said, "I know, too."
(3) By now, only possibilities left are 4 Mar, 8 Mar and 1 Sep. If the month revealed to Pete was Mar, Peter still wouldn't know which date. So the bday MUST be:

1 Sep

4 Mar, 5 Mar, 8 Mar
4 Jun, 7 Jun
1 Sep, 5 Sep
1 Dec, 2 Dec, 8 Dec

Its a toss up between Jun 7th or December 2nd that is the only thing that I can come up with and only because they are both the only ones used once. So I dont know how logical that is but that is my answer. If I would have had a month or a date I would've been able to pin point it a little better. But I still hope I win, so what is the answer?

June 4th.
"If I don't know the answer" = 6 words - June, the 6th month
"John doesn't know too" = 4 words - 4th day

"At first I really didn't know" = 6 words
"But now I know" = 4 words

Right?
