Good Question!

We can call our earthly father, father. But we are not to call any one Father, but our heavenly Father.

Capitalization on the word Father... is God
lower case ... is earthly father

Any religion Catholic or other denominations that call the head of that organization Father... is walking into danger.

This question has been asked almost as much as Pascal's wager. Search on Father K, he has answered this many times with better reasons that I have. To oversimplify, we Catholics do not feel that this verse literally forbids us to use the word "Father". That would forbid us from using the word "father" for our male parent, would forbid the word Godfather, would forbid the word fatherly etc. It means we only have one God, who is in heaven.

They either don't know or don't care. Jesus said at Matt. 23:9 not to call anyone father in a RELIGIOUS sense. The same thing goes for the word "leader." (vs. 10) Catholics and others ignore this.
