You don't say how old you are so it's hard to tell what would be appropriate.
Of course wooden desks look fine with wood floors.
But what kind of look do you like? Streamlined and modern with metal and glass? Natural wood or painted? Styles matter- mission, Asian, Victorian, Art Deco... you should look at design sites and books about style to get ideas on what you like.
For the walls- again, what do you like? Do you like paintings? Photos? Carvings? Do you have a hobby or interest you can highlight? Hang a quilt or weaving? Make a canopy from a beautiful piece of cloth?
I have made a vow in my house to have minimum mass-produced objects in my home or on my wall. I don't like to have something everyone else has, so I never went to any of those home-decor parties. Examples of some of my decor include; a hand-painted slate and pressed, dried, matted & framed wildflowers (both won at church fairs), a triptych of paintings done by my daughter (on temporary loan while she is out of the states). Trips to Ireland provided me with a carving, a ceramic art piece, a woven shawl, lace, all of which I bought for less than $60 each. I have a few original paintings I bought from artists I have known. I like wreaths and I have some in different places- I believe it's good "chi" (feng shui) to have round things here & there. I have some stained glass pieces I bought. I have lots of plants, which add oxygen to the air and look nice.
You can pick a theme and go with it- one of my rooms is based on "sky"- many of the wall hangings & candlesticks & paintings are moon and stars and the curtains are white and blue. One of my friends did a garden theme.
You don't need to spend a lot of money- you can find things that interest you in different places. Church fairs are a good places to get hand-made crafts, and sometimes they are very high-quality. Flea markets and auctions are a good source of art and decor objects. Steer clear of big department store art. Contact a local art college and see if they ever do shows and sales. Consider making your own art- paint a canvas, or frame a photo you took. Make a collage or stretch a piece of fabric over a frame and hang it. Go to a paint-your-own-pottery place and make a plate or candlesticks. Buy a plain wreath and decorate it with ribbon and flowers.
Best of all, have fun and let your room express the inner you!

first you have to put your personality traits in your room, because this is the area where you dream, sleep, laugh and live most of the time. In order to be happy in your new ambient, you must at least browse somee interior room decoration magazines, to catch some ideas. A wood desk will go fine depending on the color of the floor. If they are pine tones, a darker wood will look great if the furniture goes with it.
And... after all, eclectic decoration is outstanding ; but in the mix and match, you should always be aware of how you combine textures, colors, furniture and accesories. "Go" get the the color chart in a painting store, and look what color in the opposite of purple(your wall color), and this will be the color gamma you will use to accesorize your room with pillows, curtains, tabletops, if any, or other.

You really need to add some more info...how old are you? That is so very important when decorating a room. What do you like? Music, animals? Any sports or hobbies?? Yes, a wood desk can go on a wood floor, but it depends on the wood that is on the floor(the color) that would determine what would look best...
Your room should reflect YOU...and should be a calming and peaceful retreat...too much stuff equals too much going on to be calming....keep all this in mind.
I wish I could help you more....

Get a wood desk that matches your wood floor, anything else would look odd. Decorate your walls with photos of friends or art that you like. There's lots of great art you can buy over the internet, I do it all the time.

the wooden desk would look ok if you match it as closely as possible with the floor--too many different shades of wood color look mismatched in a small room. I think your best choice for furniture would be a light grey. Use different shades of grey, blue, and purple for accessorizing. bedding and window treatments in a dark eggplant (aubergine) color would look great--maybe stripes of lavender-gray and eggplant. A few bright pops of orange in accents would add some zing and contrast.

unless the desk is a dark wood, the wood desk and the floor won't clash. if you want to add blue into your room too, don't be afraid to add singes of blue accessories here and there also. good luck on your new room!

This is just my personal opinion, but I think silvery metal furniture would look good with light purple & a wood floor. Good luck!

Keep an open mind when you go furniture shopping. You may see something you really like and it will inspire and give you ideas for the decor of your room.
Just to give you a few ideas I'll mention what three of my granddaughters recently did. One chose a Parisian motif whith pink and black elements. One chose a tropical island theme with wicker pieces, exotic flowers, etc. And one opted for a middle eastern look with bright jewel tones, brass and glass beads.
Hope you have fun and end up with a fab bedroom.

you could get some framed prints of interesting artwork. or you could go to the dollar store and get a bunch of picture frames, paint them the same color [dark blue?][this looks cool with different shapes and sizes of frames] and put pictures of your friends and family, and even magazine cut-outs.
i don't really know much about your style or likes/dislikes... if you want more ideas you can email me. wtfnutmeg@yahoo.com
