I believe there is absolute proof of NO God, at least the Judeo-Christian version of one. The absurdities of such a creature are just beyond laughable.
As for a higher power in some vague sense, sure it's possible. but since we can't really define what that might be or how it might be different, in Einstein's words, from a collection of physical laws about the universe. It seems at that to be rather academic.
I find the beauty and simplicity of an enormously large and old, constantly changing universe far more compelling than the absurd and ham-fisted notion of a God that influences the outcomes of sporting events and love lives, but never, ever cures an amputee.

Okay Midge, I'll try to explain to you why I don't believe in God. First off, there have been hundreds of Gods through the ages. If any one of them was all powerful ( all mighty ) ( able to do anything ) he would have been able to get his message out, and there would have been only one God in the history of the world.
Since you mention this dieing and coming back to life, I have to believe that you're Christian. Okay, explain the trinity. tell me how one person is really three, or that three people are actually only one. Please don't repeat the church explaination about three devine persons. The plural of person is people, not persons.
The preamble does not say , " We the persons etc". Linclon did not say, " Of the persons, for the persons, by the persons ".
So what is the church trying to hide ? Explain, please.
There is no real proof that anyone ever died and came back to life. All religious writings were made by people who lived in a time when every aspect of life was governed by omens and signs. They were superstitious beyond belief. I am not.
My belief is that any belief in the supernatural is simply superstition. It would be great to live forever. It sounds fine, but think it through. We're all part of nature, and will all return to nature.

Those are all stories that you've been fed. They are not true events. I don't believe in a story. It's not that I don't desire to believe in fake stuff. I just don't believe in it. Why it is SO important to you that EVERYONE believes in the same crud you do? Is it because you need the validation? Is it because you feel that unless everyone believes the same as you, that it's not really real? Poor thing.
And you know what? Even if a god came to me at work, breathed on a clump of earth and created a new person, it still would not make me worship him. I'd just say, "cool dude, later".

Why would anyone not WANT to believe in God? No, the issue is that he doesn't exist. Just doesn't. There's no proof and religion is such blatant wishful thinking there's no way I'd subscribe to it.
Proof: I'd have to sense him. And he's also have to be proveable by EVERYONE, whether they were spiritual or not. Like scientific findings.
And I don't believe he died and came back - why would I? Just because it's written in a book? Do you believe in Muhammed? Why not? He's done enough for you!

"I mean he has already died and came back to life so what more could you ask"
see, that's the problem right there. You got that from a book that has been heavily edited, translated and interpreted through the ages. There is by no means a lot of evidence surrounding Jesus.

If I believed that Jesus was God and died and came back to life, then I'd already believe in God....There is no evidence to support this story, besides 2 men, who never met Jesus claiming that a lot of people saw it happen...

It sounds like you equate God with Jesus Christ. In fact it was Jesus who died for the sins of Christianity and came back on a day that rabbits hide chicken eggs. God in fact, according to your own beliefs, has never died and is invinsible.
I am willing to bet not a single Christian out there is smart enough to have read the bible cover to cover, and yet they claim to know every thing about their religion.

I have a different concept of how things work spiritually, in which deities are simply symbols, metaphors, of something much greater and more abstract. I think deities are an attempt to conceptualize something we can't really understand, a language for something for which there is no language. If you want to call that 'God', have at. But in my mind it's not remotely personified.
I left behind thinking of deities as you understand them, a long time ago. I don't believe I could ever really honestly believe in them again.

As a rational being, I believe based on the evidence. Since there is no evidence to support the idea that there is a god, I am an atheist. I don't believe in unicorns, Santa Claus, tooth fairies, flying spaghetti monsters, etc.

Obviously there's nothing to prove he came back to life. The Christian god has no more basis in evidence than any of the hundred million other gods worshipped.
If Gods existence was proven in a scientific way (you know, the kind that needs evidence and not a "feeling in your heart") then I would convert instantly. As would any rational person.
