In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

I've seen several questions from you on this subject. Are you trying to find answers or just scoring up points on Yahoo Answers? Satan has nothing to allow, understand that. When it come to who allow what, God allows Satan, He gave Satan charge of the earth, but God is still the One in charge.

You sound the the Pharisees and Sadducee's who tried to imply that Jesus was doing good works through the power of the devil.
His response to this was "How can a house divided against itself stand?"
The devil does not wish for good to exist and shall try all in his power to fool people into believing lies.
God has allowed the devil to control the world for a time. But on the day of judgment God shall destroy him and bring His kingdom into the world.
To stand with Jesus you must be against the world.
This means do not pursue earthly rewards for they shall fade away and crumble like the dust of the earth. Pursue that which shall last forever, that is the kingdom of the Almighty God.
God bless you.

God does not allow evil so good can exist.
He allows bad things to happen so that He will be glorified through them.
Satan has no authority to allow anything. God is God.
Satan is a fallen angel. God vs. angel- God wins.

Satan has no control over good. He is pure evil and hates everything that is good. He hates God and he hates God's greatest creation - us. If he could, he would annihilate every last one of us but without God's permission, he is limited in his ability to act.
Remember, he needed God's permission to tamper with Job's wealth. He told God that He - God - had a hedge around Job and that is why Satan could not go beyond a certain point. God specifically told him not to harm Job's life and he could not disobey.

Give credit where credit is due. Satan taught Adam and Eve about good and evil, which is to say right from wrong. So, Satan - not God - is the one who gave mankind morals!

Satan is actively trying to destroy good. He just does not have the power to do it all on his own. And God would never allow that to happen anyway.

Satan has no choice.God allows evil i think because he kicked Lucifer out of heaven and he ended up on earth and messed up EVE and AdAM.But we were sort of doomed from the start if you believe the Bibles versions which i don't.I pick and choose my beliefs and if i'm wrong so be it.I don't suggest you believe my beliefs but form your own.

Satan is not equal to God. Although he is the ultimate evil he cannot create or alow good to exist in his realm. He is limited to the powers bestowed upon him.
