I have one on the back of my neck... small and tastful. I have 3 tattoos... all in different places and the back of the neck is my favorite location. Easy to hide if necessary but also convienient for showing off. I say go for it. Dont listen to people telling you you'll regret it when you're old because A. the back of your neck doesn't wrinkle... ew. and B. When you ARE old it wont be weird to have tattoos because WE ALL HAVE THEM AND WE'RE ALL GONNA GET OLD TOGETHER!!! It will actually be the "norm".

I have one and I love it. It is simply and has a lot of meaning. I have an office job, I am a loan officer and I have shourt hair. It has not been a problem what so ever. Tattoos are the norm now and not too many people are upset by them.
PS it doesn't hurt. I have ten tattoos and this one hurt the least!

I have a tattoo behind my ear. I love it, my husband loves it, and it has never caused me problems at any job (I do consulting/accounting). It wasn't that painful either. I had my hair up for my wedding and it complimented the theme. It is permanent, but if you get something you really want, it shouldn't be a problem.

I have a good-sized tattoo on the back of my neck, and I'll address a few of the issues people have brought up.
1. I've had it for almost seven years, and have never regretted it.
2. I have a good job, in a law firm.
3. No one has ever given me a hard time about it.
4. If Leviticus is a good reference for this, why do Christians wear mixed fibers or eat shellfish?
5. It's about how you carry yourself. It really is.

Sure. As long as it's pretty, small, and tasteful. I was thinking about getting my next one there, except that I shouldn't have cut my hair off first.

I have it and it was the least painful spot. It's also a surprise for people when they see it. It's hard to notice at first and when they finally notice it, which can be months after meeting them, they always dig it.
Do what you want.

People she is talking on the back of her neck that is covered with her hair. It's the least likely spot to be noticed.

And I have a great job at a company that distributes electronic components. I have 15 tats and never had a hard time getting a job. Bettie is absolutely right.

I say do what is good for you as long as you think it over for all of the reasons mentioned in the decent answers above and below...
You have to consider the fact that age might change your outlook.
You are going to get old eventually.
If you get fat... It might end up looking like a logo on a package of hot dogs? LOL...
Whatever you do... NEVER, EVER get a lovers name tattooed on you. It almost always breaks up any relationship and it is tacky as hell!
I say not only get it, after thinking it over, but wear your hair up, or get that cute little A-symmetrical Bob cut razored in the back that shows it off! I love them and prefer Chinese characters on the back of the neck to anything else.

Personally I wouldn't, if you really wanted a tattoo I would put it somewhere if you had to cover it up like if you wore a dress. I don't think it would look very nice if you wore a really pretty dress and then you had a tattoo showing I think it would look distastful
