Someone told me that car rental places have special rates for insurance claims, is this true?

I do not have "substitute transportation" on my insurance, and am unsure if I will be found at fault for the accident, will I qualify for this rate if it exists?

Thanks.

From your letter it would seem that you have already contacted your insurance company and that, regardless of the circumstances of your accident, there will be no compensation from either your company or from any other as it relates to a rental.

With that said...auto rental agencies often have agreements with insurance or auto repair companies because they can provide a 'quantity' of clients to them or because the payment is guaranteed at a fixed rate because of the referral.

If you are having your car fixed, ask the body shop if they have such an arrangement or suggestion.

If you simply go into the auto rental agency you can always ask for a discount, but don't count on getting one.

If you have car insurance and you got into an accident, call your insurance to report it and ask if you can get a rental car. Even if you didn't pay for this extra service as part of your insurance coverage, ask! I was surprised to find out that I could get a rental car for one month at no cost, but turns out they would provide it for me (my circumstances were different from yours, but just ask!).
