the outcome was obvious, so it didn't have much of a chance if it was supposed to be funny.
it's as obvious as this one:
pervert walks up to a man at the bus stop and asks "do you have any nude pictures of your wife?" the man reples, rudely "no!"
so the pervert says "would you like to buy some?"
you can't help but see it coming so it isn't really funny
