By being sick do you mean by throwing up...if so perhaps i can explain it. I have had it happen to me sometime in my life. If you have food in your stomach from the previous day.....some of it should be on the way out. If the food is one or two hours in your stomach and you threw up..nothing can be added to your system to add weight...just the opposite. The more you throw up the more you lose weight.

Not always. It depends on the illness. Many people with major illnesses may vomit frequently, sweat frequently and not have an appetite. All these factors result in weight loss. But being sick isn't a guarantee of losing weight.

I'm sick now with the flu. I noticed in the mirror this morning that I'm looking a little leaner. Could be that I have no appetite or energy to feed myself. Also, I'm supposed to be drinking lots of fluids but the kitchen is just too far away. Also, the more I drink, the more I have to go to the bathroom, and that's just too far away too. So, I'm guessing you lose weight when you're sick because you eat less and drink less. It's not good, though, so I'm forcing myself to go make a pot of tea now. My current recipe: fresh ginger, fresh lemon, green tea and one clove of crushed garlic. The garlic makes it a bit nasty, but adding honey makes it OK.

You lose weight because you don't eat as much when you're sick. A lot of times when your sick you have a loss of appetite.

Funny, I won't lose even a single lb. I was on drip for a week with not food intake, a week later, I weigh the same as I was before I got admitted into the hospital. Mind you, I am a rather large person.

If u r ill for a long pd than a person looses wt. B coz the catabolism ( opp of metabolism - assimilation of & utilization of food for energy ) increases during illness & reduced appetitie & diasbility due to diseases process itself causes wt.loss like in cancer Short seasonal illness doesnot have much effect.
