It is impossible for all of humanity to have come from such a small gene pool. Inbreeding on such a scale would mean that by around the fourth or fifth generation, the average life expectancy would have been practically nil and most people would be disfigured or have chronic illnesses.

Adam and Eve started the population of the world. They had many sons and daughters other than Cain, Abel, and Seth.
When the fallen angels (demons) had babies with women, and God caused the Great Flood, He saved Noah, his wife, sons and their wives. After the flood the sons and their wives repopulated the earth.
ADDED DETAIL--for the detail you added after you received answers--the Bible does not condone incest anymore. After a time (I can't remember where it is in the Bible) God put a stop to incest. It is not condoned by God in this day and time, and has not for several thousand years now.

Adam and Eve definitely existed, but much of their story is symbolic, as many stories in the Bible are. I don't think the whole world was populated by two individuals created from nothing.

I believe in the Bible. Incest did happen in the early days and was later frowned upon.

The populated the whole world.
And after the flood, Noah's family repopulated the whole earth.
Than after about a 1000 years God said it was then a sin for close relations to have sex.

In the beginning incest was ok. Things were very good, the air was thicker, etc. The mitochondrial DNA is passed only from the mother, and everyones mitochondrial DNA is the same... One mother!

Acts 17:26 From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand which should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.
Yes God made all nations from Adam.

Well, they only started the human population.
Animal populations were started by animals.
Plant populations were started by plants.
