To be a probation or parole officer in most states, you need a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. My BA is in History, and I have an MS in Education. I've only had 1 criminal justice course.
There are other officers in my department with degrees in business, criminal justice, education, english, math, and science.
To be a corrections officer, you might not need a degree, depending upon the state.

you probably need a degree in criminal justice for probation officer, i have a cousin and uncle that are corrections officers and i believe they had no degree but they had to take a training cource, i believe for about 6 weeks to be certified, this was done a few days a week while being paid to work at the prison.

A degree from a college or university is not required to be an officer with any municipal or county level agency. All that is required is a certification from the appropriate "academy". I put academy in quotes since most agencies don't have their own academy anymore. even though you might apply, get accepted to and enroll in an academy, It is usually a semester's worth of classes held at a college leading to certification by the respective state you want to work in.
However, a degree in something law enforcement agency related will definitely help if you wish to move up in the agency. This doesn't necessarily mean criminal justice either. Business degrees which include curriculum on management, finance, and other topics relevant to functioning in any government agency are also helpful.
