i was depressed at age 14, and had no idea until i took a test. the signs are over sleeping or under sleeping (i would sleep for 3 hours at night and sometimes 11-13), not interested in usual activities (i stopped playing music and poetry and stopped drawing), not doing well in school (always late to class and bad grades), extreme moodiness and sadness (always), and there are other signs too. i talked to my mom, great aunt, best friend, and a counselor. if u or someone you know has those signs, you should get help or talk to someone. oh, another sign is under eating or overeating, and i overate. so really, i hope everything works out hun.

It sounds ridiculous but yes you can. I was depressed for so long that I completely forgot what it felt like to be "normal". It didnt sink in that something was wrong until I dropped out of school, screwed up with my girlfriend, and was very rationally and without any emotion contemplating suicide....Very strange part of my life to say the least haha. But everything is on track right now and it was all because I was in the mindset for so long that I thought it was normal, gotta be careful...Bottom line, if you think there is something wrong, check it out with a doctor, better safe than sorry.

There are lots of signs of depression. Not having an appetite, drinking, secluding yourself in a room for hours, not wanting to talk to anyone, etc. Yes you can be depressed without knowing it.
