I've been riding for a couple months and I am tired of the bulky walmart BMX bikes, I am willing to purchase and expensive brand, but I would like to know one that is good for the begining rider.

The new bikes from Dave Mirra, Mirraco, have come through with some very nice specs for the prices. They had a fork problem but have fixed it already and since they caught it before anyone had a problem with it shows that they care about getting a good bike out there. Spend at least a couple hundred on whatever you get and you shouldn't have problems.
If you are looking for a race bike, go with Intense. Toby Henderson is in charge of those and now that they have complete bikes for a couple hundred instead of just frames for that price, it is well worth the investment. These are fast, stiff, and light!

I would suggest you to invest in the DMX BMX "rough rider" series. It's both stylish and affordable.

depends on what style of riding you are into, dirt, street-park, racing....check out what your local store caries and find one that fits you best. most companies offer bikes in various price ranges and comparable quality. its gotta fit though
