Would there have to be a good reason?

I always remove my shoes when I enter another persons home. Shoes and socks only if they are both mucky and would create a mess.

So yes there would have to be a good reason for socks, however for shoes they are removed as requested.

Yes there should be a very good reason. If someone would suddenly ask me to take my shoes and socks off, I'd juz say No!

Shoes I'm used to, b/c of Asian friends and just others who I can see don't wear their shoes at home, and are just nice about other people wearingthem and then having to clean later on.
But socks?
Listen, I have a birth defect, and my nail is not so pretty.
There ain't no manicure ever done that's made me feel better, so NO!
I'll leave, thank you very much.

If you want to go in their house and you have to take of your shoes, take off your shoes. They could be nasty. But socks, too? That's kind of a hassle.

I have regular pedicures and l-o-v-e to walk around indoors with no shoes and no socks. Not a problem for me.

I would probably be thrilled that it was someone else's idea, so that I could get credit for acceding to somebody's request. No reason would be required whatsoever. In all fairness, I must admit that I would probably be trying to plant the idea into the person's head to begin with.

Have you ever seen the scene in Donny Brasco when he is asked to remove his shoes. I'd do that without the racial aspect.

unless you suffer from indescribably stinky feet or perhaps fungal infections or havent had a menicure from quite some time i probably would advise you not take of your shoes and socks but i guess otherwise it would not be such a problem.
