can a guy sleep with his ex a couple of months after the break up - which was quite traumatic- without any emotions? i mean like just do it - and then continue to be friends. especially if you have both agreed to just be friends? Or is he doing it because he has emotions about the situation but its just hard to put into words?

Yes. Men can separate love from sex very easily, which is the reason why they are often baffled by women being upset about no contact after a one-night stand. Men's attitude is "it was fun, it was one night, it was sex - heck, I never promised marriage!" whereas women tend to look on sex as more of a commitment, or in anticipation of a longer-term relationship.
So I think your ex is just having sex an dhaving some physical fun. He probably thinks with his male mind that it's the same for you and he probably would be bewildered that you are baffled by this.
Sorry, but men and women ARE different! Sex to a guy is just that, sex! No more!

Who really believes this "just friends" thing? When was the last time you had sex with your friend? What he is trying to do is have sex without the relationship, if there were emotions or he still felt for you, I am sure he would try to rekindle the relationship rather then just have sex with you. If you want a relationship based purely on sex then go ahead.

For most guys sex is just sex it's a physical thing not an emotional one. He has a physical desire that he would like met and when he finds someone to fulfill that then he's happy, even if it's just for a moment.

Whenever there is sex, feelings are involved. The guy might try to kid himself that it's just a physical thing, but this is self delusion. Men have just as many emotions as women, they just try to mask them in various ways in various circumstances. He may be a bit immature and unable to express himself in words?

im actually going through this right now. i think a guy doesnt usually put love together with sex. he probably just wants to have sex because he knows that girl will let him, then he doesnt have to do the work for it with someone else. he knows shes available, and he doesnt have to sweet talk her or anything, like he would if he tried to be with someone new.
