As you can see from the answers so far, your question is too broad. Crimes can be classified by punishment (felony/misdemeanor, etc.) They can be classified by the object of the offense (property/person, etc.). They can be classified morally (prohibitum/in se). They could also be classified by intent (specific intent/general intent/strict liability). There are other sorts of classifications as well. Which one are you interested in?

Boiling it down to the least common denominator, there are crimes that are mala in se, or acts that are crimes because they are inherently evil, and crimes that are malum prohibitum, crimes that are designated as such by a legislative body.
Murder is inherently evil, but failing file an income tax return is only wrong because Congress says so!

Felonies, Misdemeanors and violations. They are given classifications. i.e Class A Felony...Murder etc. B.. Armed Robbery etc. Misdemeanors are small crimes that you can spend up to a year in jail for. they also have Classifications i.e. Class A Larcency up to a certain amount Class B i.e. Harassment

There's only two. Crime against property and crime against persons. All the other crap is nonsense designed to erode our sovereignty from within.
