To me, it says that God wants what is best for us, will take care of us and give us good guidance. I think, however, it would depend on each person's relationship with their own parents and if they are mature enough to have moved past any hurtful things in the way they were raised.

Jesus prayed to God, His Heavenly Father. And told us to pray, "Our Father in heaven...". Jesus said that to see the Kingdom of God we must be born again. The first one is born of water (mothers water bag/ flesh) and the second birth is of spirit (born again/ spirit). So we then are born again, born of His Spirit, cleansed by His Blood, joint heirs with Jesus, part of the family of God.
Where the spirit bears witness in our new born spirits, that we born of God and can pray to Father God 24/7 any place or time. We can also pray to Jesus 24/7. And the Holy Spirit is the seal/ assurance that will never leave us unto the day of redemption complete. Also the Holy Spirit is the gift of God that is with us and will be in us. That would be when someone is filled with the Holy Spirit.
The deity mother I found once in the bible, in Revelation. It is the Mother, the new Heavenly Jerusalem, that comes down from heaven...

God was the institutor's of marriage and family and in that relationship we find love and comfort and a bonding with others.
We help them and they help us.
that was not the case with the angels they were all direct creations of God. Psalms 148:5
By making them and giving them the ability to reproduce their own kind. They were in effect able to create humans.
By doing this they came to realize how much God loved them.
It was a perfect example of love. But, not robot or as animals love you but by a conscience decision they chose to love you and make a family with you. That is why the free will was important. We got to chose how we wanted to act.
We could even chose to be bad.
That is why when we chose to be good it is so special.
Because we don't have to.

As far as God being the Father, it tells me that I can have a very close, personal relationship with Him.

Actually the most frequent one is Lord.
What does that say about religion in respect to monarchies and tyrannies?

it says they are all origin myths.
It is also interesting to note how the various religions handle the father figure; from kind and just to vengeful and fear-inspiring.
