Do certain breeds of dogs get along better with their own breed best or other breeds?

I have a cocker spaniel and I was wondering what breed of dog she would get along with best; another cocker spaniel or a different breed?

It depends on both dogs! Dogs are individuals, just like people. It's possible she could find a spaniel she likes and just as possible that she may not. Breed is never a guarantee. What you should consider is how your dog behaves with other dogs. Is she dominant or submissive? If you have a very dominant dog, a submissive nature would be your best choice. Most times it is recommended to pair dogs of opposite sex. As previous poster mentioned, note what sizes of dogs she likes and dislikes. If possible, your dog should be involved in the selection process. If you're rescuing or adopting a puppy, take your dog along and she how she reacts to potential dogs. Try to stay as emotionally detached from your own preferences and find the mate who will be best suited to your pet.

I know that Chihuahuas get along better with their own kind, but if they are raised together with another breed, it wouldn't be a problem.

Some dogs get along better with bigger or smaller dogs than themselves. My dog is really mean to small dogs, so she can only play with larger dogs. You should take your dog to a dog park and see how she interacts with the other dogs.

i don't know about all dogs.i have basset hounds,dachshunds and a chihuahua.and they all get along,but i do know the basset hound will get along with any dogs.
