Hes 19 he is legally an adult you go pursue your dreams and let him be responsible for himself and where and how he lives you cant mother him his whole life. i'd go.

I have friends in exactly the same situation, weird or what?
They are still in the UK, bought another house, he got his old job back (luckily enough) and she got a job too. The son is doing very well at chef school (they have 2 sons the other a little younger)and they don't seem to mind waiting whilst he qualifies.
I think it's a really hard decision and they didn't take it very well initially, but they said "ok what's a couple more years before we go." So my answer is do what your gut instinct tells you. I think I would use that time and go to night classes to learn Spanish (you always get on better if you speak the language) and after all time flies really. So before you know it you'll be here and missing Sainsburys, Tescos etc like the rest of us!!

Talk this over with your son, explaining that he is now an adult and must decide whether he will stay with your relatives or come to Spain with you.
Either way, don't give up your opportunity to live in Spain just because of your son's indecision; if you do, later on you'll resent him.

He needs to make a choice; you've already made yours, so go with it.

Go.

Although you are his mother he is at least making a decision about his future which suggests that he is able and willing to look after himself when you have gone.

Unless of course he does not want you to go.

If that is the case, you should go anyway. You only get one chance at your life so use it.

Your son appears to be using his chance at his life- it shows independance.

Good luck!

He is 19! If he doesn't want to go, fair enough, but you don't owe him anything anymore. If he has a job, let him find his own place to live and start being independent. Every day you pander to him, it makes it tougher on you to cut him loose, and tougher for him to strike out on his own. Give him some tough love, as our American cousins would say, and kick his butt out!

By not going to Spain because of your son is like him not doing his apprenticeship because of you. Would he give it up for you? If not you have your solution.
