P.S. I know there's no god.

Dr. Socks: So you are saying that God either has no free will or sometimes chooses evil.

People are saying he created us such that we never choose evil but that we choose evil anyway. That is impossible.

I think God just changes the definitions as he goes along.

We are made in His image - and that includes free will. He never chooses evil. He even gave us the law so it would become obvious to us that we are not capable of always choosing good. Now we know that we're not perfect - and need a way (Jesus) to get back to God's presence.

BTW - God is only good. He gives light and reveals that there was darkness. He gives peace and reveals that there is evil. Now we have a struggle to achieve that which is good. This same concept occurs with humans all the time. Nobody knew how bad B/W TV was until some neighbor (the Joneses no doubt) bought a color set. Nobody realized how hot it was until those same Joneses bought an A/C unit for the TV room. And nobody thought it was a hassle driving three on the tree until Mr Jones bought an automatic. That family never did anything evil to our family, but we also never realized how bad we had it until they moved in next door.

Because that isn't Free Will... and God isn't entirely good:

Isaiah 45:7 (King James Version)
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

We were created that way but prefer short-cuts and have gone after many schemes. We do not fully understand or appreciate wisdom. For this reason we willingly take responsibility for what is accepted to be good and vehemently denounce, conjure up excuses or find a scapegoat for the actions that proove unpopular and are therefor considered wrong.

We live in a delicious world of contrast. Think about it. If everything was just hunky-dory as you would have it be forever without any thing to challenge you and cause you to move. What fun would that be?

Pretty boring after enough time. Just know that God is perfect and every thing is happening for a perfect reason.

Hard for the finite mind to wrap itself around so that is where faith in the infinite mind of God helps. We may not understand but to take the leap of faith in simple trust, now that is courage.

Have Fun! ~

It's interesting because the concept of good and evil is so subjective. Do you think that God punishes an impoverished mother for breaking a commandment and stealing bread to feed her hungry children? I don't think so.

I think all things are just things to God and it is you and me who label and interpret and perceive things, people and actions as evil. To God, this is a place for us to learn - and there is much to learn through adversity. That doesn't make the adversity evil, does it?

Peace!

We ARE made the same way. God, who has no disposition to do evil, chooses not to do evil. We have the capacity to choose good or evil, and can choose only good if we so desired. Overcoming the disposition to do evil is our earthly challenge.

He chooses not to do evil through understanding.

Would you want it programmed in like instinct? We come into this world with no understanding. If it was programmed in...then there would be no freewill.

So in order to have freewill...we have to learn and gain the understanding not to choose evil - like He.

You just answered your own question, He has free will to do as He chooses, He also created us the same way, what you do or how you choose is your free will.

We were.

First answerer? Try this rendering of Isaiah 45:7, Forming light and creating darkness, making peace and creating calamity, I, Jehovah, am doing all these things.

He did. He gave us a choice between good and evil. We exercise our free will everyday.
