Today morning my roommate wake me up, he told me he got attacked by three guys in his room in middle of night. Since I was deaf, I was unable to hear anything.

This really scare me to death, I feel like I'm unable to do anything. I'm afraid one day in future if I have a family and something happen, I'll be unable to hear anything. I don't know what to do. This is very distrubing to me.

There are many "gadgets" that will help. Vibrating burgler alarms, vibrating alarm clocks, vibrating additions for your telephone/TTY, flashing light doorbells.
My son is deaf and has many of these items. He lives alone. I do believe that there are groups that will help you obtain these items for little or no cost. Human Services or your local deaf school may be able to give you information on these items.

I wouldn't worry about it. If, some day you have a family, chances are your wife and children will have perfectly normal hearing!! So, what you can't hear, they will be able to hear, and to warn you if neccessary. Also, the human body is amazing!! When we lose one of our senses, the others seem to go into high gear!!

Talk with your counselors and/or friends about this. There are many ways of keeping you - and your future family - safe, and they can suggest solutions for your security issues.

Don't let this upset you any further; find out what you need to know and then do what you need to do to keep yourself safe and secure.

You're an adult; you can handle this.

I think after this, you're senses will be even more heightened than they already are and especially while you're asleep. I think that when you have a family, you'll be very sensitive to any feelings or instincts that you might have and therefore, be a wonderful husband, father, etc.

I haven't made a recent inventory, so I don't even know how many guns I own, but it seems to me a more practical solution to your concern is a decent lock on the door.
