Why is there still a battle between the sexes?

Is the battle betweent the sexes driven by religeon? If religeon was not a part of the senario, would we still have this struggle? You know, without the threat of devine judgment.

the battle of the sexes will always be because people always think they are better then another, till that stops. Honestly i do beleive it's driven by "old religion" if you look back in the BC area, the middle ages, etc women were supprose and Men were thought out to be the more superiour one. now times and changed, freedom is changed, and ppl voice it

First of all, if you think the Bible/Koran/Torah whatever is the ultimate truth, don't read this answer.

Religion came out of something older than civilization itself. Difference between the sexes will always exist due to differences in anatomy. Men cannot give birth or breastfeed but are instead, in a general sense, physically stronger.

If you look in primates (apes, chimpanzees) females and males have very distinct roles. Males are relegated to the defense of their territory, and the securing of ample supplies. Females are given the task of raising the young.

A neuroscientist told me that about 50% of chimpanzees are actually smarter than 25% of humans. Why then aren't chimpanzees civilized? Or at least, why aren't they on the road to an organized society? The answer is very simple: males have no role in raising the young. Everything a baby chimpanzee knows is learned from his or her mother. As a result, instead of cooperating for the sake of their society, the males are always competing over the females.

So as a species, we are where we are because at some point men and women decided to cooperate in developing stable realtionships and in raising the young. While men in general took the dominant role in society, there are many instances where they didn't. Many matriarchal societies exist, where the raising of the young is considered more important than increasing an already plentiful supply of food, or protecting against a non-existing threat. As a result, women are the dominant sex in those instances. In most instances, though, protection was more important, and men became dominant.

In today's society, food is plentiful and people in developed nations live without constant fear of their lives. Men, however, are still holding on to their dominant role in society. This is because society values wealth, and wealth and child rearing do not mix very well. As a result, women are bound by their anatomy to devote a part of their lives towards rearing the next generation. At the same time, some men are acting like chimpanzees by taking no stake in the next generation and instead focusing on their careers. If our society decides that we all are rich enough and successful enough and we don't need any more than what we have, then children will be the focus of our lives, and women may very well become dominant.

good Q. Originally it was religion, now days its more of a head game. But, if you look at other animals on earth the female is the dominant sex. Which would be fine by me, send my "brothers" home and send my "sisters" to Iraq (just kidding) I don't think we will ever come to an agreement in our lifetime. Sad but true.
