To balance out the brassiness, the next color you choose to dye it should have the word "ash" in front of it. This means that it is a cool tone and it will get rid of the brassiness in your hair. I would wait a week or so before dying it again just to give your hair a little break.
Also, if you didn't already, wash your freshly dyed hair with a clarifying shampoo like Prell. This will strip some of the color and hopefully tone it down a bit.

If you go to sally's beauty supplies or anything dealing with hair and make up places like that. You can ask them about these packets that you put into your hair dye before you dye your hair. They have like no red and red wont come threw your hair they have no grey and stuff like that. They should have something dealing with brassiness and you just put drops of it in your hair dye and color your hair. I use the no red because I dye my hair blonde and my natural color is red and it grabs in every color I use. So I think it works great because it gives you the color you want. So you can always get the color you want and go and get the stuff you need so it dont turn brassy again. But you should be ok to dye it the next day just make sure you use ALOT of conditioner when you wash your hair after wards so that you dont risk of having damaged hair.

Don't use a box color from the drugstore. Go to a beauty supply, like Sally's and talk to the people there. They can help you choose a color and tell you how to apply. It is much better for your hair and they can show you what to use so you won't get the brassy color.

I just went through a self induced nightmare, even contacted the company on the internet and was harshly ignored.
I used an in between product known as "glazing". DON'T.
You can reapply a new colour after about a week or so to give your scalp a rest.
Use products that say "ash blonde" use the same company's product - even if they promise help and don't provide it.
MUST do a strand test, just like the instructions. Have someone help you. Do exactly what the instructions say.
I did this and my hair looks fine now, no thanks to their so called and useless "help line".
If it still looks like a tabby cat or weird after this, you will need to go to a hair salon to rectify, then can go back to doing it yourself, just match the colour.
Good luck.
PS my hair looks lovely now, shines, no brass.

As little as 3 days but if I were you I'd wait at least a week (7 days).. Dying your hair to soon after can cause for breakage and frizziness. It can really damage it and it can take a while for you to regain healthiness again. Good luck.

I would change the brand that you used. Loreal Excellence and Garnier Nutrisse are the best home color kits that you could find because the color on the box is the color that you achieve.

If it's orange-brassy, use a blue toner. If it's yellow-brassy, use a light violet toner.
