You are a human. A creature who can make mistakes, a creature who can never really be sure that they know the truth.

If you accept that its prideful to say you know the complete and absolute truth, would you ask a friend to remind you when youre boasting: I know the truth!

Who would this friend/person be?

"A creature who can make mistakes, a creature who can never really be sure that they know the truth."

I am human, make mistakes, and am a believer of honesty and love. This is what God represents to me and He helps me deal with confusion. With that said just as Satan works thru people I also believe in the Trinity. Therefore God is at work everywhere even on the internet.

Asking for correction...does a child ask for correction...not verbally. Yet, mature adults know the young and those struggling depend on those with true strength can show them how to aquire the strength to grow forward. There is no question how this occurs.

I agree with bad liberal

I don't boast to know the absolute truth about anything...If I have gained knowledge in any particular subject, I will state what I know, but that doesnt automatically mean that I am boasting, just merely reiterating what I have learned.

I also don't mind being corrected on anything, for that is the way that my knowledge will increase

Non-anthropomorphic philosophies/religions always remind us of this, because mystery of the Source is at te heart of all its meditation.
Such thinking humbles one automatically, and then there becomes little reason to even ask the question.
But,
Great question in our Western world!

Someone whose opinion, advice and learning I had learned to respect.

I think it would be important NOT to take correction from anyone who I knew gave out contradictory and confusing messages (especially messages that other people who followed him argued about), who didn't advocate things I don't approve of, and who wasn't prone to long periods of wearisome silence.

Someone intelligent.

Not God because I can see how unintelligently designed everything is.

Frankly I'd rather be atheist than worship a moron.
